New Delhi: The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has directed all State Pharmacy Councils and Registration Tribunals across the country to remit one-fourth of the total fees collected during the financial year ending March 31, 2026, in accordance with the provisions of Section 44 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948.

In a communication issued by PCI Registrar-cum-Secretary Anil Mittal, the Council asked registrars of all State Pharmacy Councils and Registration Tribunals to arrange payment of the statutory share due to the national regulator along with any pending dues.

The directive, issued under Ref. No. 16-23/2025-PCI, reiterates the requirement under Section 44 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948, which mandates State Pharmacy Councils to contribute a portion of the fees realized by them to the Pharmacy Council of India.

According to the circular, the amount to be remitted should be equivalent to one-fourth of the total fees collected by the respective councils during the year ending March 31, 2026. The PCI has also instructed that the payment be made through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Pharmacy Council of India, payable at New Delhi, and credited only to the "Payee's Account."

Further, the Council has requested State Pharmacy Councils to expedite the remittance process and submit a copy of the audit report for the relevant financial year. The PCI stated that the audit report would facilitate audit-related requirements and ensure proper financial reconciliation.

The communication has been addressed to registrars of all State Pharmacy Councils and Registration Tribunals, emphasizing timely compliance with the statutory financial obligation prescribed under the Pharmacy Act.

Section 44 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948 provides for the payment by State Pharmacy Councils to the Pharmacy Council of India of a share of the fees received by them, thereby contributing to the functioning and regulatory activities of the national pharmacy regulator.
