Tamil Nadu- The Directorate of Medical Education in Tamil Nadu, TN Health has invited applications for M Pharmacy admissions 2024. For this, TN Health has released the prospectus for M.Pharmacy course aspirants.

The Last Date for online submission of the application is August 25th.

All the concerned candidates seeking admission to M Pharmacy course in Pharmacy colleges in Tamil Nadu are advised to take note of the following details:

Important Information:

• The online prospectus for admission to M.Pharmacy course for the academic year 2024-25 session in Tamil Nadu Government Medical Colleges, Government seats in Self financing Medical Colleges affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University can be downloaded from the websites

• Any change or modification and relevant information pertaining to this admission process will be made available on the websites;

• The candidates are advised to be in touch with the official website for schedule/ latest updates/results/notices/news & events pertaining to counselling as Selection Committee will not be individually contacting the candidates for the same.

• Candidates are advised to read the prospectus carefully before filling the application and ensure that no mandatory column is left blank. In the event of rejection of the application form, no correspondence /request for reconsideration will be entertained.

• The candidates are instructed to check the websites frequently for updates during the entire admission process.

• The Selection Committee will not be responsible for the consequences resulting due to non-diligent follow-up.

General Instuctions:

(a) Candidates seeking application for admission to M.Pharmacy course 2024-2025 session in Tamil Nadu Government Medical Colleges and Government seats in Self financing Medical Colleges affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University can be accessed from the Websites:

Non refundable application fee of Rs.1000/-

• Method of all fee payments through online payment portal only.

• Candidates have to pay application fee through online via Debit card / Credit card / Net Banking or RTGS.

• All Candidates should make sure to apply on time and avoid last minute rush.

• Candidates must note that mere deduction of fee from the Bank account is not a proof of fee payment.

  • Candidates should submit the online application form upto 5.00 PM 25.08.2024, thereafter there is no provision for the candidates to submit their online application form.
  • Service candidates should upload their Service particulars along with the filled-in online application forms (duly certified by the Forwarding Authority with date and seal).

Eligibility Criteria:

(a) Candidates seeking admission to the M.Pharmacy Course should be Citizen of India.

(b) Candidates who are claiming nativity of Tamil Nadu should upload their certificate of nativity of Tamil Nadu issued by competent authority from Revenue Department of Tamil Nadu with official seal. Candidates who are claiming community reservation of Tamil Nadu should upload the following certificates.

  1. Candidate’s Community Certificate issued by competent authority from Revenue Department of Tamil Nadu with Official seal.
  2. Community Certificate of either of the parents issued by the competent authority from revenue department of Tamil Nadu with official seal.

(c) Those who have studied from 11th standard onwards and undergone B.Pharmacy Course in Tamil Nadu should upload a nativity certificate.

(d) Nativity Certificate submitted later will not be accepted.

(e) The Candidates are instructed to upload the following documents in addition to above.

  • Copy of Aadhar Card &
  • Any one of the supporting documents
  • Driving Licence
  • Voter’s ID
  • Passport
  • Copy of Parent’s Documents (Aadhar Card and School certificate).

If the copy of the supporting document is not produced, the application form will not be accepted.

• Candidates should possess a B.Pharmacy Degree awarded by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University or any other University recognized as Equivalent there to by The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University / Pharmacy Council of India. Candidates who have qualified from other universities should obtain and produce an Eligibility Certificate from The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University at the time of admission.

• Candidates seeking admission to the M.Pharmacy course should have obtained not less than 55% for OC, BC, BCM, MBC(V), MBC & DNC, MBC and 50% for SC, SCA and ST of the total marks obtained in all semester of subject marks taken together in the B.Pharmacy Course. In case of failure (s) the pass marks in the subsequent (attempts) shall be taken for calculation purpose. Number of attempts is not considered for calculation of marks.

• A candidate who has already completed or acquired a Postgraduate Degree in any branch of M.Pharmacy course or is undergoing a Postgraduate course in any branch of M.Pharmacy is not eligible to apply for any other branch in M.Pharmacy course. Candidates who have discontinued the course on any grounds after the cutoff date fixed by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University are not eligible to apply for two years from the date of appearance for the entrance examination.

• The following categories of B.Pharmacy Graduates will be treated as Service candidates for selection under the seats reserved exclusively for service candidates.

i. B.Pharmacy graduates serving in Government of Tamil Nadu under the control of Director of Medical Education and Research / Directorate Public Health and Preventive Medicine / Directorate of Medical Services and Rural Health Service / Directorate of Medical Services and Rural Health Services(ESI) / Directorate of Drugs Control on a regular basis and who have completed two years of service as on 31.07.2024.

ii. B.Pharmacy graduates who are approved probationers serving in local bodies who have completed 2 years of service as on 31.07.2024.

• The following categories of B.Pharmacy Graduates will be considered for selection under open quota as non-service candidates only.

a) B.Pharmacy Graduates who are serving in Government of India institutions in Tamil Nadu / Public Sector undertaking and organization under control of Government of India in Tamil Nadu.

b) B.Pharmacy graduates who are serving purely under temporary category in Tamil Nadu Medical Service / Local bodies. Self employed B.Pharmacy graduates and B.Pharmacy graduates serving in Private sector.

Procedure for filling the Online Application:

• (a) Candidates should upload the necessary enclosures while submitting the online application.

  (b) SC / SCA / ST Candidates of Tamil Nadu Nativity are exempted from application fee.

  (c) Recent Passport size photograph to be uploaded in the application form.

• The candidates shall fill in the online application form carefully.

• A candidate shall submit only ONE application form for admission to the entrance examination.

• A candidate submitting an online application with incomplete or insufficient particulars or without enclosures will not be accepted. (without any intimation to the candidate).

• The Government Orders issued and to be issued from time to time pertaining to any of the matters contained in the prospectus should be read as part and parcel of this prospectus and such terms and conditions in the Government Order are deemed to have been incorporated in this prospectus.

• Service candidates should upload their applications along with the service particulars with the remarks of the forwarding authority duly signed with seal and date as prescribed in the application form. The online applications of the Service candidates who have completed two years of continuous, regular service as on 31.07.2024 alone excluding the leave for which the candidates are eligible / availed other than casual and compensatory leave will be considered. The Heads of Directorate have to issue a Certificate of completion of the required service.

• Candidates must upload the following documents along with the application.

a) B.Pharmacy Degree Certificate or provisional pass certificate from the University concerned to which the college is affiliated.

b) First year / Semester to final year / Semester B.Pharmacy Mark sheets issued by the University concerned.

c) Permanent Registration Certificate of the State Pharmacy Council of the B.Pharmacy Degree.

d) Valid Community Certificate issued by the competent authority from Revenue Department of Tamil Nadu with Official seal and Date.

e) Birth Certificate or copy of Higher Secondary School Certificate / School Leaving

Certificate / College Leaving Certificate / Extract from Service Register as evidence for Date of Birth.

f) Eligibility certificate from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R.Medical University for candidates who have qualified the under graduate course from Universities other than the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. (This certificate shall be produced at the time of admission).

g) Attempt Certificate in Final Year B.Pharmacy course from the Head of the Institution studied in.

h) Nativity certificate (if applicable) with supportive documents.

i) Copy of posting order for Service Candidates. Candidates are instructed to produce the above-mentioned original Certificates/ Documents at the time of admission for certificate verification.

• It shall be the responsibility of the candidate to give the correct mailing address on the main application form. If there is any change of address it should be intimated immediately to the Selection Committee in writing.

Counselling Procedure: 

• (a). Admission to M.Pharmacy Course, will be done by the ONLINE COUNSELLING based on rank following the rule of reservation/roster system by Government of Tamil Nadu and as per all other terms and conditions in the Government Order issued and to be issued from time to time with regard to rule of reservation.

  (b) Candidates who have not registered and not choice locked in the 1st round of ONLINE COUNSELLING will be permitted to the subsequent rounds of ONLINE COUNSELLING.

  (c) Once options are given during the Online counselling it cannot be changed later. Request for change of speciality/college from one to another is not permitted after an option has been exercised at the time of Online Counselling.

  (d) Request for transfer from one college to another will not be allowed. Re-allotment will be permitted only during 2nd phase of Online Counselling.

  (e) Individual request for transfer of college will not be entertained.

  (f) Mutual transfers will not be permitted under any circumstances.

• Candidates selected for admission should give a declaration in the form given at the time of admission that he/she is liable for forfeiture of selection / admission if suppression of facts are found at any time during or after admission to the course. The selection / admission shall be liable for cancellation based on declaration at any time during or after the admission to the course. Further, he/she will not be allowed to apply for the Post Graduate M.Pharmacy Course for Two academic years (2025-2026 &2026-2027).

• Candidates who have not registered and not choice locked at the scheduled date and time of online counselling will not be considered for admission. However, the selection committee reserves the right to permit the candidate to attend the subsequent online counselling, if a valid reason is communicated to the selection committee before the commencement of subsequent counselling.

• The candidates should produce their Original Certificates in person at the time of joining in their selected institution/Medical Colleges along with the photo copy of original certificates.

• Any change or modification and relevant information pertaining to this admission process will be made available immediately on the websites. (www.tnmedicalselection.net / www.tnhealth.tn.gov.in). The candidates are instructed to visit the websites from the date of application till the end of online counselling without fail. All information including the date of online counselling will be available in the website.

• All candidates attending the online counselling for M.Pharmacy course will have to remit a non- refundable amount of Rs.500/- through ONLINE Banking payment portal via Debit Cart/Credit Card/Net Banking as Registration fee. The candidates who are allotted the seats should pay an amount Rs.5000/- (Non Refundable) through ONLINE Banking payment portal for downloading the allotment order towards Tuition Fee in total as prescribed in clause 49 for Government colleges. This amount will be transferred to the concerned Colleges. The fee is not refundable if the candidate does not join or discontinues the course. Candidates who are allotted the seats offered by the Self Financing Institutions will have to remit a non-refundable amount of Rs.5000 through ONLINE Banking payment portal for downloading the allotment order. This will be adjusted towards the tuition fee that has to be paid to the colleges and the balance amount towards tuition fee has to be paid in the respective colleges at the time of joining the course. The fee is not refundable if the candidate does not join or discontinues the course.

 Candidates who discontinue the course in Government Colleges on any grounds after the cutoff date (i.e. xx.xx.2024) fixed by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and the candidates who have taken allotment during final phase of counselling and not joined the course on or after the cutoff date shall pay Rs.1,50,000/- (Rupees one lakh fifty thousand only) in total as discontinuation fees as per the G.O.(D). No.700, Health and Family Welfare (PME-1) Department, dated:08.06.2021 to the Deans of the respective Colleges by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai-10”, payable at Chennai. Unless the penalty amount is paid in total, the candidates will not be relieved.

Method of Selection and Admission: 
 Seats will be distributed equally among service and open quota in the order of merit.
•  a. The Selection will be made by online counselling based on Merit and by applying the Rule of Reservation / Roster method followed by the Government of Tamil Nadu wherever applicable. The rule of reservation shall be as follows: - Open Competition - 31% Backward Class - 30% Most Backward / Denotified - 20% Scheduled Caste - 18% Scheduled Tribe - 1% Within the 30% reservation for Backward Classes 3.5% reservation will be provided for Muslims.16% of seats out of 18% Quota earmarked for Scheduled Caste Arunthathiyar Community as per the Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 2009.
   b. 50% of seats in each branch and in each college are reserved for service candidates, in addition to those for service candidates selected in the open category. In case an odd number seat remains in any branch in the total seats sanctioned for that branch, that seat shall be filled by merit and communal reservation. The odd seat stated above is referable to each branch and not to each college.
  c. For the newly sanctioned seats in Government Colleges after the I Phase of Counselling, re-allotment of courses/colleges will be permitted as per merit and communal reservation from rank one. Joined and Waitlisted candidates only can attend the online counselling for the allotment of the above seats.
   d. If there are no eligible Service candidates opting for M.Pharmacy course, the same will be allotted to eligible Open Category candidates.
• a). Any remaining unfilled seats for want of adequate number of eligible candidates belonging to SCA community shall be filled by candidates belonging to SC community other than Arunthathiyar as per merit and vice versa. (G.O.(Ms)No.55, Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department, dated: 08.04.2010.)
 b). Any remaining reserved seats in ST Quota for want of adequate number of eligible candidates belonging to ST community shall be allotted to candidates belonging to SC Community as per merit. (G.O.(Ms)No.77, Health and Family Welfare (MCA-1) Department, dated 24.02.2011.
  c). Any remaining unfilled seats in BCM Community for want of adequate number of eligible candidates after exhausting the merit list shall be filled up on merit basis by candidates belonging to BC community without exceeding the quota for BC community as a whole. (G.O.(Ms)No.30, Health and Family Welfare (MCA-1) Department, dated: 18.01.2012.)
 d). Even after filling up of the required seats reserved for Arunthathiyars on preferential basis, qualified Arunthathiyars are available, such excess number of candidates of Arunthathiyars shall be entitled to compete with the Scheduled Castes other than Arunthathiyars in the inter-se merit among them(G.O.Ms.No.65, Personnel and Administrative Reforms(K) Department, dated 27.5.2009).
• a). Selection and admission of students to the seats earmarked as Government quota in Self- Financing and Government Aided Institutions will be subject to the Central and State Act and Rules proposed by the respective Government coming into force before counselling. The seat matrix for these institutions will be displayed during online counselling.
  b). Service candidates taking allotment in Self-financing colleges will not be paid salary and they have to avail leave for which they are eligible for the period of study on their own after obtaining prior permission from their Head of Directorate concerned.
  c). Stipend / Fee structure/ Bond amount/ any other conditions will be as per the Institution admitted into.

Duration of Course and Tuition Fees: 

• (i) The Duration of the Post Graduate M. Pharmacy course shall be 2 years.

Subject to change in the Tuition Fee for 2024-2025. Special fees and other fees are to be paid at the time of admission in respective colleges.

(ii) Students of SC/SCA/ST, whose parents’/guardians’ annual income is less than Rs.2,50,000/- (Rupees two lakhs and fifty thousand only) and for SC Converted Christianity students whose parents’/guardians annual income is less than 2,50,000/- (Rupees Two Lakhs only) are exempted from payment of all compulsory, Non refundable fees (Enrollment/Registration, Tuition, Games, Union, Library, Magazine, Medical Examination and such other fee compulsorily payable by the scholar to the Institution or University/ Board) and also exempted from all compulsory Non refundable fees fixed by the “Fee Committee”. The fees, so exempted shall be claimed by the respective Institutions under the Scholarship Programme of the Government of India in G.O.(Ms)No.6, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department , dated: 09.01.2012 and as per G.O.(Ms). No.92, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, dated:11.09.2012.
