Mumbai: A nurse attached to a private hospital at Govandi was arrested for allegedly administering wrong injection resulting in the demise of a patient. Apart from the health worker, the doctor who owns the hospital has also been booked.

The 30-year-old nurse was detained after a panel of three doctors of JJ Hospital, who examined the medical reports of the deceased woman concluded that the patient died due to a wrong injection.

As per various media accounts, the case concerns a woman who visited the hospital near her residence at Shivaji Nagar, Govandi on October 2, 2020 as she was suffering from fever. The nurse allegedly gave her an injection and some medicine without consulting with the doctor.

However, after a couple of days, there was a swelling and infection at the injected spot. The victim's family approached the hospital again. The patient was operated on and discharged. On October 9, the family shifted her to KEM hospital as her condition worsened, where she eventually passed away.

Subsequently, a case was registered against the nurse based on the expert panel report.

Commenting on the matter, police told India Today, they have also registered a case against the owner of the hospital. However, he claims that he didn't operate the patient.

He added that he had called a visiting doctor to operate on the victim. Meanwhile, the accused nurse has reportedly not submitted any document related to her qualifications as a nurse.

Further investigation is ongoing, police added.
