Rajasthan Orthopaedic Surgeon Creates National Record after complex Hip Surgery on 104 year old
Jaipur: A city-based orthopedic and joint replacement surgeon, who performed a hip reconstruction surgery on the oldest woman in India, made it into a national record.
Dr Ranat Ramjas Vishnoi, attached to Shably Hospital in Jaipur, has been presented with the certificate of world record from World Records India Institute, by the Governor of Rajasthan, Kalyan Singh recently at Raj Bhawan.
The surgery was performed on April 22, 2017, on a 104-year-old, Basanti Devi, who suffered multiple fractures in her hip. Devi had suffered a fall which led to the fracture and traumatic arthritis of hip joints. The previous joint replacement of such an old aged woman is registered with the UK.
The complication was such that the pain spread to her entire backside, making her unable to even move out of bed. It was found that ball joint in the hip of the patient had fractured and was touching the socket causing arthritis.
