AIIMS Raipur Dr Pugazhenthan Thangaraju elected as Fellow of Royal College of Physicians, London
Raipur: Dr Pugazhenthan Thangaraju, Pharmacologist of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur, has been elected as a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), London. He previously worked as a Central Health services officer in the Clinical division of the Central Leprosy Teaching and Research Institute under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Government of India.
One of the first organizations devoted to bettering healthcare is FRCP. It recognizes and rewards medical practitioners who have rendered exceptional contributions to the medical field.
Dr Thangaraju has been honoured with the prestigious fellowship for his contributions in the field of leprosy, lepra reaction clinically, and research contribution in the area of clinical Pharmacology, reports the Times of India.
Pugazhenthan did research in Infectious Diseases, Diabetology, and Clinical Pharmacology and was involved in research in Pharmacology in infectious disease Leprosy and lepra reactions. He completed his MBBS from Madurai Medical College and afterward pursued his post-graduation in Pharmacology from the Post graduate institute of medical education and research (PGI Chandigarh). He also received a fellowship from the international medical sciences Academy (FIMSA).
He has authored more than 140 works that have been published both domestically and abroad. He also received the Department of Science and Technology (DST) SERB travel grants and the Tamilnadu CM scholarship for MBBS.
Fellows of the RCP are distinguished consultants or SAS doctors and are given the honour of using the FRCP (Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians) postnominal. RCP fellows’ standout contributions to medicine are recognized and their voice is amplified to shape the future of healthcare. As an RCP fellow, one will belong to an influential and diverse community of genuine changemakers who value others' expertise to shape better, more equitable healthcare. Fellowship also provides the professional recognition that an individual's achievements deserve, opportunities to fulfill advisory and leadership roles, and a platform to further their career.
