Gujarat: A surgeon attached to a civil Hospital in Anand recently fell victim honey trap after a group of 6 people allegedly blackmailed the doctor and extorted rupees 1.25 lakhs from him.

The doctor in his complaint alleged that two women took him to a house in Petlad town of Anand and extorted money from him by blackmailing him after fabricating false evidence against him. The women along with their accomplices allegedly took indecent photos of the doctor and threatened him to post those online.

Police have already booked and arrested the six accused under the charges of criminal conspiracy.

The Indian Express reports that according to the FIR, the incident took place on September 29th and the doctor stated that almost one month ago he received a call from a woman who stated that one of her family members had been suffering from stone problems. The doctor instructed her to visit Petlad civil hospital on September 29th.
However, on September 29th morning, the woman again called the doctor and informed him that the patient was not in the condition to be transported and requested him to pay a visit. Hence the doctor considered her request and around 1 p.m. after completing his duty, he called the woman and asked her to meet near Petlad railway crossing.
After that, the woman accompanied by another woman sat inside the doctor's car to direct him the way to Aashi Village in Patel. He told the Indian Express that "After I stepped in the room, the woman stepped outside saying she had to drink water. As soon as she stepped out, the other woman suddenly bolted the room from inside and started tearing her clothes and began yelling. In the next moment, three unknown men barged into the house from the back door and claimed that they were police and I have been caught raping the woman,"
The doctor was overpowered by the three people who removed the clothes of the doctor forcefully and took objectionable nude pictures of the doctor along with the women and demanded 5 Lakhs. The doctor was compelled to compromise and paid rupees 1.25 lakhs, adds the daily.
The surgeon further alleged that "I called up a doctor friend of mine and asked him to arrange the cash after which the three men sat in my car and drove to a place where they met my friend and took the money. They also threatened to leak the pictures if I reported the incident to police. On October 17, I received calls from two numbers wherein the caller demanded another Rs 40,000 and threatened to leak my pictures on social media. "
Soon, unable to cope up with their increasing demands the doctor finally sought the help of police and registered a case against the six accused at Petlad police station.
Police have arrested and booked six persons under Indian penal code sections 386 (extortion by putting the fear of death or grievous hurt), 170 (whoever pretends to be a public servant), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 120B for criminal conspiracy.
"The six accused worked as a gang and tried to honey trap the doctor and extort money from him. We have arrested them and further investigation is on in the case to know if there are other victims of the gang," said a police officer at Petlad Town police station.
Mirror reports that the woman who approached the doctor first, claimed to be an Anganwadi worker but police are still investigating to confirm her identity. On the other hand, during the initial interrogation police found that they have been actively honey trapping people for the last two years and the centers of their operations are Kheda, Anand and Vadodara.
