Haryana- In the ongoing investigation into the MBBS exam scam at Pandit BD Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak (UHSR), it has come to light that a total of 46 blank answer sheets of the MBBS examination held at the varsity in January-February 2024 had gone missing.

The revelation came after a three-member fact-finding committee submitted its inquiry report to the university authorities on February 13, which stated that some of these missing answer sheets were used during an examination held at the university in April-May 2024.

The committee found this discrepancy while reviewing the record of answer sheets provided by the centre superintendent. The three-member fact-finding committee is headed by Dr MK Garg, director of Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College (Karnal).

Now the disappearance of blank answer sheets has raised suspicions about the involvement of the exam centre staff, the university's examination branch and the company that supplied the answer sheets. This has now also led to speculations that the original answer sheets issued to students may have been replaced with the answer sheets that had gone missing earlier.

After the matter came to light, Vice Chancellor Dr HK Agarwal took immediate action and started an internal investigation to identify the officials responsible for the security of the answer sheets. In the investigation, three employees were suspended and an FIR was also recommended against them. Now, these three employees are also mentioned among the 17 other people named in the FIR registered in connection with this scam.

In this regard, speaking to TribuneIndia, a university official said, “Earlier, it was found that students involved in a similar scam had used erasable ink to write their answers. After the examination, the answer sheets were allegedly taken out of the university, where students would erase their answers using hair dryers and rewrite them. The tampered answer sheets were then resubmitted for evaluation, enabling cheating in the examination process”.
