Haryana- The investigation into the MBBS exam scam at Pandit BD Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak (UHSR) has recently revealed that question papers were leaked on at least three occasions in 2024 to carry out the answer sheet racket, which is allegedly being run by a nexus of insiders and students.

This was revealed during the interrogation of a key accused. The accused revealed that the question papers of the exams held on May 15, 17 and 19 were leaked by an invigilator who clicked pictures of the question papers and shared them with his accomplices via mobile phone.

These pictures were sent to MBBS students of another batch on WhatsApp. Following this, these students were assigned the task of rewriting the answer sheets for the original candidates. The fake answer sheets were then replaced with the original ones, allegedly with the help of insiders in the university's secrecy branch.

Speaking to the Tribune, an official said, "On all three days, these students completed the answer sheets at the accused's house. Two of them wrote six answer sheets each in the name of different candidates. Another student wrote four and the fourth wrote three answer sheets."

The investigation also revealed that the blank answer sheets were obtained by an assistant-level UHSR employee recruited through the Haryana Skill Employment Corporation. The invigilator who allegedly leaked the paper charged Rs 30,000 per paper from the students. However, the main accused charged Rs 3 lakh per subject from the students, which included the entire process of writing and submitting fake answer sheets.

In this regard, the source said, "Surprisingly, despite the inspector being named during the police interrogation, no action has been taken against him yet. Apart from this, the accused have also named several other officials, but they have not yet been questioned in connection with the scam."

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that students of four consecutive batches of a private medical college now under the radar in the investigation. During police interrogation, one of the main accused revealed the involvement of students from 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 batches, revealing a deeper nexus of academic fraud. During interrogation, the accused admitted that students from 2020 to 2023 batch were involved in the scam. Deals were struck with the students directly or through middlemen to ensure favourable exam results. The accused also admitted that deals were struck for 34 subjects from the 2021 to 2023 batch, however successful manipulation took place in only 18 of those subjects.
