Srinagar: A doctor attached to a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Harmain, along with three other staff members were suspended on alleged molestation charges by a girl in south Kashmir district of Shopian.

As per a recent UNI report, massive protests erupted after a girl from village Aloora alleged that a doctor tried to molest her in a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Harmain in Shopian. Later, the agitated villagers locked the PHC. However, by then the doctor and other staff members have managed to escape.

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Shopian, Dr Ramesh Malla after receiving the complaint suspended the doctor and other staff members till pending inquiry. CMO has constituted a committee to investigate the matter. Dr Malla has said that further stern action would be taken after receiving the inquiry report.

However, police stated that no case has so far been registered since no complaint has been received.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that a local court in North Tripura had sent a doctor of Dharmanagar to jail recently after being arrested on molestation charges. The female assistant had registered an FIR against the doctor accusing him of molesting her while discharging duty at his private clinic.
