Jharkhand: State IMA seeks Compensation For Private Doctors, Medical Staff Infected Battling COVID

Ranchi: A delegation of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Friday called upon Chief Minister Hemant Soren here, seeking compensation and status of martyrs for private doctors and paramedical staff who lost their lives as frontline warriors in the COVID-19 battle.

As per a recent UNI report, the delegation handed the Chief Minister a memorandum, demanding that doctors and paramedical staff of the private hospitals who end by being infected while battling Coronavirus or lose their lives should be given compensation as per the government norms and they should be also accorded the status of martyrs.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that following the COVID-19 death reports of medical practitioners fighting in the frontline in Tamil Nadu, the doctors' body had urged the state to offer a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the family members of these doctors under such circumstances.
