Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court bench on Friday sought to know from the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and the State Government as to why appointments in the fourth-grade posts had been made via outsourcing.
Ordering the director of the institute to remain virtually present on the next date of hearing, the High Court division bench comprising of Chief Justice Dr. Ravi Ranjan has sought to know from the institute the logic and reasons behind making such appointments.
Such directions were issued by the bench also comprising of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad while considering a Public Interest Litigation initiated suo moto on the problems faced by the public at large due to the "lack of infrastructure" at RIMS.
As per the latest media report by the Times of India, the High Court initiated the PIL after taking note of the news reports that indicated the problems faced by the public. Following that, the bench started considering the cause and currently it is also keeping an eye on the working of the autonomous hospital.
The bench asked the institute and the state government that even when there were several vacancies in group IV, why regular appointments had not been made for those posts.
Meanwhile, defending the position of the institute, the counsel appearing for RIMS, Akashdeep said it made appointments through the outsourcing route following a written direction received from the Jharkhand government in this regard.
At this outset, the bench also asked RIMS and the state government to file affidavits in the matter, adds PTI. The case has been listed after a fortnight.
