Kanpur Medical College MBBS student drowns to death in Brihaspati Kund

Bhopal: In a tragic incident, a 22-year-old MBBS student from Kanpur Medical College while swimming deep into the water drowned to death during a trip to Brihaspati Kund in Satna district with friends. 

The student has been identified as Tiwari, a resident of Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, the body of the deceased student was not located on Monday. Search efforts resumed on Tuesday, resulting in the recovery of the body which was later handed over to his family members after an autopsy.

The incident took place on Monday when the student along with 10 other friends had come to Satna district's Brihaspati Kund (Waterfall) for a picnic. The student went for a swim moving towards the area where the water was deep. After not being able to handle the depth, he downed to death.

Noting the incident, his friends called the police and a rescue team was deployed who begin their search for him. However, it was almost evening which prompted the rescue team to halt their operation. The next day, the body of the student was found after the team started again. 

The police then conducted an autopsy and the body was handed over to her parents and relatives. 

Barondha police station in-charge, Abhinav Singh Parihar told TOI, "Rescue operations were started on Monday itself, but as it was late evening, the body could not be found. On Tuesday, the rescue was started again, and the body was found. Later, it was handed over to the kin after an autopsy."

Medical dialogues team had previously reported that four Indian medical students drowned when they entered a fast-flowing river near St Petersburg in Russia.

Four Indian students who were studying at the Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University located in Veliky Novgorod, Russia, drowned in an unfortunate incident in the Volkhov River. In the incident, a fifth Indian student was saved from drowning.
