Uttarakhand Doctor's body recovered after month in Pahalgam
Nainital: In an unfortunate incident, the dead body of a doctor has been found near Ladarvath in Pahalgam after a month he was drowned in Tarsar Lake in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The deceased has been identified as Dr Mahesh Kumar who owned a Sanjeevani Hospital in Haldwani.
Dr Kumar had an interest in trekking and would go on trips to remote places to enjoy the experience of trekking. Never had he imagined that he would meet his final death. On June 18, this year he chose to go Tarsar Lake area for trekking with his companions from Haldwani.

The trip was with 14 people including three tourist guides. The area near the lake was experiencing heavy rain for continuous three days which means trekking in that situation could be dangerous for everyone. Due to the heavy rain force, the water level at the footbridge rose high resulting in the collapse of the bridge which fell over the lake.
Unfortunately, Dr Kumar and a tourist guide identified as Shakeel Ahmed from Srinagar were drowned in the accident. However, the tourist guide drowned while trying to save Dr Kumar and after a day Ahmed's body was found in the lake by the rescue team.
Meanwhile, Dr Kumar's body was missing for nearly a month. Recently his body was found near Ladarvath in Pahalgam. The police immediately reached the site upon receiving the information.

SSP Pankaj Bhatt told TOI that "On June 22, a tourist guide from Srinagar died while trying to save Dr Kumar, a tourist in his team near Tarsar Lake in Anantnag. Kumar drowned as well. Tourist guide Shakeel Ahmed's body was recovered a day later after much effort by the rescue team, while the tourist's body was missing for more than a month."
According to the SSP, Kumar's family members have been informed of the situation and his body will be handed over to the relatives after medical and legal proceedings.
