MP Govt doctors threaten to resume strike over delay in implementation of DACP Scheme

Bhopal: Pressing for Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) scheme other demands, 10,000 government doctors across Madhya Pradesh have threatened to go on strike from 25th March if the government does not arrange a meeting to come up with viable solutions. 

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that after talks with the state government failed regarding the doctors demand for Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP), over 10,000 government doctors across Madhya Pradesh went on an indefinite strike in February. The protest began at Bhopal's Gandhi Medical college. The government doctors across Madhya Pradesh went on a two-hour strike to protest what they called “bureaucratic interference in their work and promotions.”

However, the doctors called off their strike after chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured them that the implementation of the DACP scheme in the state will be duly considered within a month. 

Talking to Medical Dialogues, Dr Vivek Chouksey, a doctor working in Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Medical College, Vidisha and the Secretary of MP Medical Teachers' Association stated, " We stages agitation a number of times, the latest being in February. However, we called off the strike as our CM promised to implement DACP. Moreover, Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang that a high-powered committee would look into their demands, including those related to promotions. However, the authorities didn't take any initiative to fix a meeting to update regarding either the committee or the DACP scheme."

" Around 48% in the health department and 25% in government-run medical colleges are vacant. It is becoming extremely difficult for doctors to handle the pressure of the increasing number of patients. Doctors belonging to five government departments have been consistently approaching the authorities to arrange a meeting. Enraged at the delay of the government, the doctors have decided that they will be going on strike from 25th March once again. All the medical colleges throughout the state will participate in the protest. We will start by boycotting OPD duty but if our demands are still not heard, we might consider boycotting emergency services as well," added the doctor.
