Ratlam: A clash erupted during Holi celebrations at Dr Laxmi Narayan Pandey Medical College in Ratlam, which turned violent after a postgraduate student allegedly attempted to run over five to seven fellow students with his car.

The incident took place around 4 PM when third-year physiology students were playing Holi on the college campus. According to students, the accused doctor, reportedly from Jaipur, arrived at the spot in a car with a few friends.

As per Dainik Bhaskar media report, the students who were playing Holi asked take another route. This led to an argument between the two sides.

Amid the heated exchange, the medico allegedly sat inside his car and began moving forward. The students tried to stop the vehicle, but he reportedly accelerated the car at high speed, attempting to run over the students.

Afterwards, the medico turned his car around, coming back towards the group. The students again attempted to stop the car. When the car didn't stop, some students tried to stop it by throwing stones. The doctor then fled quickly.

Following this, a few PG students reportedly chased the car, which led to another scuffle between the doctor and other students who were with him. Several students sustained injuries in the clash.

A doctor claimed that three students were injured, with one suffering a fractured hand and others receiving minor scratches. He also alleged that a similar dispute had taken place during Holi last year and that the same accused doctor had earlier faced suspension over disciplinary issues.

Another doctor alleged that the accused had come with the intention of creating a disturbance during the festival. Another student claimed that when the accused tried to run them over with his car, three companions were present in the car at the time of the incident.

However, the accused denied the allegations. He said he had gone to the college to play Holi and was later waiting in his car outside the emergency department for a colleague. He alleged that another vehicle approached from behind and that two other doctors attacked him, hitting him on the head with tools taken from his car. He claimed he lost consciousness and later received four to five stitches.

College Superintendent Dr Pradeep Mishra said, "A fight occurred on campus. Police have been informed. Police will take action."
