Prof Dr Santosh Kumar Mishra Appointed as new Director of Medical Education and Training, Odisha
Bhubaneshwar: The Odisha Government has announced the appointment of Prof Dr Santosh Kumar Mishra as the new Director of Medical Education and Training. Dr Mishra currently serves as the Dean and Principal of MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
A notification from the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha issued on 27th May confirmed his new role. Dr Mishra will assume his responsibilities from Saroj Kumar Mishra, who has been serving as the in-charge DMET and Special Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department. In the interim, Dr Sucharita Dash, Superintendent of MKCG Medical College and Hospital, will take on the additional duties of Dean and Principal of MKCG Medical College until further notice.
Last year in March Prof Santosh Kumar Mishra was appointed as the Dean and Principal of MKCG Medical College and Hospital (MKCG MCH), Berhampur. Previously he was serving as the Medical Superintendent of MKCG Medical College.
Prof Mishra completed his MBBS from MKCG Medical College in 1984. He pursued an MS (ENT) from SCB Medical College, Cuttack in 1994. He was appointed as the Lecturer and Assistant Professor at VSS Medical College, Brula, and MKCG Medical College, Berhampur from 28.03.1986 to 24.07.2008. He served as the Associate Professor, at MKCG Medical College, Berhampur till 2013. He started serving as the Medical Superintendent, at MKCG Medical College in 2019.
Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) Odisha, has been established as Head of Department during 1975 like other Heads of Department in the State.
