Puducherry:  Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) on Monday urged Chief Minister N Rangaswamy to consider the final year MBBS students, taking care of Covid patients in home isolation as trainee medical officers.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, a copy of which was released to media here, DYFI president Anand and Secretary Saravanan also urged Mr Rangaswamy to provide them a honorarium of Rs 40,000 per month as in adjoining Tamil Nadu and to acknowledge their service in future.

They pointed out that due to the surge in Covid cases, the final year MBBS students were summoned to take care of the Covid patients in home isolation.

They should be insured with Rs 50 lakh and be provided with pulse oximeter, gloves, N-95 masks and PPE kits.
