Alwar: In an unfortunate incident, a 19-year-old NEET aspirant allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling at her home in Kotputli-Behror after being upset over her performance in the NEET UG 2026 re-examination.

According to her family, she was under stress after believing that her performance in the NEET UG 2026 re-examination was not up to her expectations. While her family consoled her about the matter, the aspirant was unhappy.

Her father, a science teacher at a private school, said that his daughter had spent two years in Jaipur preparing for the medical entrance examination. She appeared for the NEET UG re-exam on June 21 and returned home afterwards. Since then, she had been worried that she would not secure the score she had hoped for.

Apart from preparing for NEET, the aspirant was also pursuing the first year of the Basic School Teaching Certificate (BSTC) course. Her BSTC examinations concluded on July 11.

As per latest media report by TOI, the incident took place on Tuesday when the aspirant was alone at home and her younger siblings went to school while her parents, both teachers, were at work. That morning, her mother called her around 10 am to enquire whether she had taken food, and she replied that she had already had her meal.

When she returned home from school at 1:30 pm, she found the main door latched from the outside, while the side gate was locked from the inside. After entering through the main door, she found the student hanging in the room.

Her mother alerted the neighbours, and she was taken to a private hospital in Behror, where doctors declared her dead.

Following this, the police were informed who sent her body for postmortem and found no suicide note at the scene. A case has been registered based on the father's complaint. The body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem.
