2 SRM Medical College MBBS Students Drown in Arabian Sea

After visiting Dandeli and Vibhuti Falls near Yana, the students visited Gokarna. However, while watching the sunset at Jatayu Teerth near Kudle Beach in Gokarna, both students were swept away due to the strong current on April 24 at around 5.30 p.m.

Meanwhile, seeing them drowning, a local man, Maniraju, immediately went to rescue the students, but he too got caught in the waves. After this, the local people brought the three to the shore through a boat and admitted them to the Government Hospital in Gokarna. In which Mani Raju was saved, but Kanimozhi and Hinduja could not be saved.

After this, both the deceased bodies were kept in the mortuary of Karwar District Hospital. The police have registered a case of negligence against tour guide Gandhi (23) and tour agency owner Vettri Selvan (29), residents of Irammattur in Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu. They have also been booked under Section 106 (1) (causing death by negligence) of the BNS.

Medical Dialogues earlier reported a case from Odisha where Pradhan, a medical student hailing from Tainshi village, drowned in Derjang Dam. While taking a bath, Rulu slipped, lost control and fell into the deep water. Due to the strong current, he was swept away into the water and drowned.
