Action Against Quacks

Hyderabad: In its continuous anti-quackery drive, the Telangana State Medical Council has registered cases against another 10 individuals based in Hyderabad, Vikarabad, who were found to practice allopathic medicine despite not being registered with the Council.

Issuing a Press Release, the TGMC provided the list of fake doctors against whom the Council registered cases and clarified that more inspections would be conducted in Hyderabad, Warangal, and other major cities in the future.

"Telangana Medical Council officials who conducted inspections in Hyderabad metropolis last month identified 8 fake doctors and registered cases under sections 34,54 of the NMC Act. The officials identified and collected evidence that the fake doctors had set up boards called RMP/PMP and were giving antibiotics and steroids to innocent patients who came to them that were not medically necessary," the release dated 07.01.2025 further added.

Among the 10 fake doctors, against whom cases have been registered by the council, two belong to the Vikarabad District Nawabpet Police Station area (Dr. Ramesh and K. Sreedhar), one to Kukatpally Police Station (LVR Reddy), two belong to Malkajgiri Police Station (Boda Venkateswarlu, G. Bhagya Rekha), one belong to Nered Met Police Station (Srikanth), one belong to Humayun Nagar Police Station (Mohammad Azam Hussain & Mohammad Ashfaq Hussain), two belong to Saroor Nagar Police Station (Srinivasa Chari, Harun Rashid), and one belong to Pet Basheer Bad Police STation (D Rambabu).

Commenting on the matter, the Vice Chairman of the Council Dr. Srinivas said, "According to the NMC and TSMPR Act, no one can practice allopathic medicine without registration with the Telangana Medical Council, RMPs/PMPs are not real doctors and do not have any educational qualifications to practice real medicine, cases will be registered against every fake doctor practicing allopathy against the law, the number of inspections will be increased in major cities like Hyderabad and Warangal, and the RMP/PMP should change their behavior at least now."

"For complaints against fake doctors practicing medicine without registration with the Telangana Medical Council, the prescription and address written by them should be informed through the email ID antiquackerytsmc@onlinetsmc.in or WhatsApp number 9154382727," said TGMC Public Relations Committee Dr. Naresh Kumar, adding that the details of the complainants will be kept confidential.

Medical Dialogues has been reporting about TGMC's anti-quackery drive over the years with the aim to eradicate curb the growing menace of quacks posing as Rural Medical Practitioners across the State.

Over the past two years, the Council has filed 400 FIRs and issued notices to 40 doctors suspected of aiding these illegal practitioners. The Council's initiative targets individuals practising allopathy under the guise of Rural Medical Practitioners without holding an MBBS degree.

Recognizing the need to curb the practice of quackery, the current senior office-bearers of the Telangana State Medical Council had launched a concerted effort to address the issue and for the first time, the Council teamed up with the TS Drug Control Administration (TSDCA), to take legal action on individuals with no MBBS degree but practising allopathy.
