Hyderabad: In a stern move against the unexpected surge in construction costs for the Warangal Super Specialty Hospital, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has mandated a forensic audit to investigate the discrepancy. During his visit to Warangal on Saturday, Revanth Reddy grilled officials on the justification for the cost increase “How will you increase the estimated cost by Rs 626 crore with just oral orders?” he inquired the officials. The CM has directed L&T, the company responsible for the contract, to adhere to the March 2025 completion deadline, reports The New Indian Express.

In addition to the hospital review, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy called for an ambitious plan to develop Warangal on par with Hyderabad. He tasked officials with creating a 'Master Plan 2050' for the city.

Revanth Reddy has also conducted a review meeting with officials from the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC), focusing on the city's development as a heritage destination. He instructed officials to expedite land acquisition for the construction of the Inner and Outer Ring Roads, emphasizing the necessity of connecting the textile park with the Outer Ring Road to enhance accessibility, reports the Daily. Additionally, the CM urged the development of an underground drainage system under the Smart City Mission.

The Chief Minister made it clear that the government would not tolerate politically motivated transfers, underscoring the need for stability and accountability in administrative positions. He announced that the minister in charge should conduct a review of Warangal's development every 20 days, and he committed to another personal review in 45 days to ensure progress.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the much-awaited project with a 24-floor hospital was being constructed on a 56-acre campus on the Old Central Jail premises at Warangal city at a cost of Rs.1,200 crore. KCR laid the foundation for the super speciality hospital on June 21, 2021.
