Telangana Woman Rekindles Doctor Dream, Takes NEET 2025 Alongside Daughter

Telangana- In an inspiring instance of perseverance, a 38-year-old non-MBBS RMP (Registered Medical Practitioner) from Suryapet district, and her daughter Kaveri appeared for NEET UG 2025 from separate exam centres in Telangana.

Saritha, who had to drop out of her BSc Nursing final year in 2007 due to marriage and family responsibilities, was motivated by her daughter’s medical aspirations to pursue her long-delayed dream of becoming a doctor. Supported by her RMP husband, Saritha balanced family life, work, and studies to prepare for the high-stakes exam. Sarita's journey is one of disrupted aspirations and renewed determination.

Both mother and daughter took the exam at different exam centres, where Bhukya Saritha took the NEET exam at Suryapet Government Junior College. Daughter Kaveri took the exam at a different centre, Government High School NSP Camp in Khammam.

According to an IndiaToday news report, in 2007, when she was in the final year of BSc Nursing. Over the years, family responsibilities and raising two daughters became a priority.

After her daughter Kaveri's NEET coaching in Khammam, Saritha felt a spark rekindled inside her. Encouraged by her family and inspired by her daughter's quest, she decided to pursue her long-time dream of becoming a doctor. Despite the odds, she balanced her work, home and studies to prepare for one of India's toughest entrance exams.

A month before the exam, Sarita moved in with her daughter so that they could prepare together. Kaveri tutored her mother in human physiology and genetics, while Sarita shared tips on how to memorise the animal kingdom. "I was thrilled when my mother told us she wanted to appear for NEET. I would regularly call her from the hostel to guide her on what to study," Kaveri told TOI

Sarita worked in a private hospital for 10 years before she and her husband, also an RMP, started a private practice."When our elder daughter took up biology, physics and chemistry for higher secondary with the aim of getting into a medical college, my passion for the profession was rekindled. I didn't want to miss that opportunity again," Sarita said.
A resident of Manchyanayak thanda in Tungaturthi mandal in Suryapet district, Sarita is willing to reappear for the exam next year, if she doesn't make it this time. "In the last six months, I decided to take a break from work in order to concentrate on NEET preparation," Sarita said.

This unique example of a mother and daughter taking the same competitive exam not only underlines the power of a second chance

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET UG 2025 exam across India on Sunday, May 4. It is one of the prestigious medical entrance exams in India.
