Assam: Considering the increasing importance of health care facilities and medical colleges, the Tripura Chief Minister, Biplab Kumar Deb announced the construction of a new medical college at Dhalai district, Tripura on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day.

Joining the celebration, on the rifle ground at Assam, the CM celebrated the independence day with the announcement of a new medical college. 

With the construction of the new medical college, this is going to be the third medical college in Tripura. The already existing two colleges include the State-run Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and a private society-managed Tripura Medical College. According to The Indian Express, the third medical college will be built at Ambassa in Dhalai district, 82 Km north from Agartala. The chief minister also confirmed that the State government has already started working on the project.

The Indian Express reports that in his address, he stated that the country is fighting against a pandemic and yet celebrating the independence day with a free spirit. He also appreciated the struggle and undaunted spirit of the health workers, security personnel, and other health workers who have offered their service day and night amidst the pandemic to keep the situation under control. The CM also stated that the prime concern of the government is to form strategies to contain the spread of the infection as fast as possible. He also confirmed that the state does not have any scarcity of medication or PPT kit and the government is providing full support to the medical community in their fight against COVID.
Describing the day, CM Biplab Kumar Deb has posted on his Twitter account stating that he inspected the parade & took salutation of forces during the celebration of 74th Independence Day at Assam Rifles ground in Agartala. He also distributed various Police Medals and addressed the people of Tripura.
