BHU: Resident Doctors end strike, join back work
About three-four youths, who had come to the Orthopedic department of BHU's trauma center for someone's treatment, had allegedly beat up a doctor on Friday.
Varanasi: The medical facilities at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) after the junior resident doctors ended their 'hartal' and resumed work in this Uttar Pradesh district on Monday.
Following a concrete assurance to accept the demands of the agitating doctors which also sought security, by Prof RK Jain, Director of BHU Institute of Medical Sciences, late Sunday night, the two-day strike of the doctors ended.
Sources said that Prof Jain accepted the demands of deploying adequate security personnel, apart from bouncers, fixing CCTV cameras and the formation of a committee to carry out an impartial probe into the incident pertaining to assault on a doctor at the trauma center last Friday.
In case of an emergency, the demand to arrange a central alarm facility in the hospital has also been accepted.
The junior doctors had gone on a strike on Saturday after an alleged incident of assault on a doctor of the trauma center by some students due to which the patients had to face various difficulties.
The students had reportedly come for the treatment of one of their friends following when the incident of assault happened.
A large number of patients at BHU's trauma center and Sir Sunder Lal hospital had to suffer from various issues due to the strike on Saturday and Sunday.

On the basis of a complaint by trauma center Prof In-charge SK Gupta, a First Information Report (FIR) had been registered at the Lanka police station into the matter.
Prof Gupta had appealed to the doctors who were on strike, to resume work on Saturday but in vain.
On Sunday morning, the doctors had also given a warning that they will stop their emergency services from Tuesday.
Following this, the Director of the Institute of Medical Sciences assured them after considering their demands, late night.
