BRD MBBS student death: Medicos hold candlelight march in Kushinagar seeking justice
Uttar Pradesh: Students of the Kushinagar Government Medical College recently organised a candlelight march to demand justice for an MBBS student who died in a tragic road accident recently. Several medicos staged a peaceful protest, holding candles in their hands and wearing black armbands.
Around 7 PM, a candlelight march was held, proceeding from the Medical College Hospital campus, affiliated with the Kushinagar District Hospital, through the Ravindra Nagar Dhus Collectorate Gate, up to Gandhi Chowk.
According to the Bhaskar news report, the students have demanded that the government register a case against the accused under severe legal sections and provide financial assistance to the deceased student's family. The medicos further asserted that the guilty party must receive such a stringent punishment that, in the future, no individual would dare to take the life of an innocent person through negligence or by leveraging their influence.
Students have demanded an impartial investigation and strict action. The medical students stated that this is not merely the death of a single student, but rather that society has lost a future doctor.
This incident occurred on the day of Holi, when Pandey, an MBBS student at BRD Medical College, was returning to the college from a friend's house. It is alleged that the individual while driving his vehicle in the wrong direction, collided with the youths riding the motorcycle.
In the collision, Pandey died on the spot, while his companion also passed away during treatment. The incident has sparked deep resentment among medical students and local residents. The students have demanded strict action against the accused.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the student sustained critical injuries in a road accident in Gorakhpur. Despite efforts to provide medical assistance, he succumbed to his injuries, leaving his family, friends, and colleagues in deep grief. Local authorities and the police responded promptly to the incident and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
