Attention Hospitals: NBE to conduct Annual Review of Accredited departments for DNB, FNB courses, Issues notice
New Delhi: Through a recent notice, the National Board of Examinations, the body responsible for DNB, FNB courses across the country, has informed about the Annual Review of NBE Accredited Departments -First Phase - 2019
National Board of Examinations (NBE) accredits hospitals/institutions for running DNB programme in various Broad & Super Specialty and Fellowship programme in various sub speciality areas. The provisional accreditation is granted for a period of 5 years.
To ensure with the terms and conditions of accreditation agreement, it has been decided to conduct an Annual Review of the NBE Accredited departments wherein the NBE accredited departments shall be required to file an annual return during ongoing accreditation cycle whereby compliance to NBE accreditation terms & conditions shall be confirmed to NBE and changes, if any, in faculty status or other training parameters shall be updated to NBE.
NBE added that such a review shall only be an offsite document-based desk review by NBE office with no mid-cycle physical assessment of the department. However, NBE reserve its rights to undertake surprise physical assessment of any accredited department, if so required.
The notice further informed that whereas the accreditation period was increased from 4 to 5 years, the accreditation fee was kept the same as before i.e. Rs. 200,000/- for each speciality specific application. An annual review fee of Rs. 10000/- from each accredited department for each accredited year shall be charged for each annual review conducted for a department.

Those departments which are not included in the current phase of annual review shall be included in the next phase in the year 2019.
The last date to submit the online proforma for the first phase of Annual Review is 7 th June 2019 (23:59 hrs)
