Haryana strengthens AYUSH infrastructure, Arti Singh Rao urges greater adoption

Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao has urged people to consider AYUSH systems for chronic disease prevention and management, while highlighting the state’s expanding network of AYUSH hospitals, dispensaries, Panchakarma centres and healthcare units across rural and remote areas.
Chandigarh: From dedicated hospitals and Panchakarma centres to AYUSH units in district and community health facilities, Haryana is expanding access to traditional systems of medicine, with Health Minister Arti Singh Rao urging people to make greater use of AYUSH for the prevention and management of chronic diseases.
Rao said on Wednesday that growing lifestyle-related illnesses have increased interest in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy in India and abroad. She emphasised the role of these systems in healthcare and wellness while highlighting the infrastructure and services available across the state.
According to the PTI report, during the campaign, the AYUSH department organised around 1,771 health camps across the state, providing free check-ups and medical consultation to more than 10,900 people, the statement said.
In this direction, the state has four major Ayurvedic hospitals — a 100-bed hospital in Kurukshetra, a 25-bed hospital in Bhiwani, a 10-bed hospital at Imlota village in Charkhi Dadri and a 100-bed hospital in Narnaul. Besides, one Unani hospital has been established at Sihol in Palwal and one homoeopathic hospital at Chandpura in Ambala, the minister said, reports PTI.
The AYUSH network extends to primary-level care, with six Ayurvedic Primary Health Centres functioning in Kaithal, Panipat, Rohtak, Sirsa and Jind. The state is also operating six government Panchakarma centres, while another 21 Panchakarma centres are functioning under the National Health Mission.
Additionally, 515 Ayurvedic, 16 Unani and 24 homoeopathic dispensaries are providing healthcare services across the state, Rao said, adding that the Institute of Indian Medical Systems and Research in Panchkula is also functioning as a key centre for research and innovation.

The state is simultaneously strengthening AYUSH education through Shri Krishna AYUSH University, Kurukshetra. Haryana currently has one government Ayurvedic college and 12 private Ayurvedic colleges.
