J&K gets five integrated AYUSH Hospitals under National AYUSH Mission

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir is strengthening its AYUSH healthcare infrastructure with five 50-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals approved under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM). Of these, one hospital in Kulgam is already operational, while four others are under construction, expanding access to traditional systems of medicine across the region.

The information was shared by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH Shri Prataprao Jadhav in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.

According to the information shared by the Ministry, the fully functional 50-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospital in Kulgam has received financial assistance of Rs 925.56 lakh. The hospital offers Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, Yoga, and Naturopathy services under one roof, providing patients with access to multiple traditional healthcare systems at a single facility.

In addition to Kulgam, four more 50-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals are under construction at Kishtwar, Kupwara, Billawar (Kathua), and Samba. Financial assistance of Rs 5 crore has been approved for Kishtwar, Rs 729.39 lakh for Kupwara, Rs 735.21 lakh for Billawar, and Rs 667.05 lakh for Samba, reports Jagran.

The Ministry of AYUSH also informed Parliament that two 10-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals have been sanctioned in the Union Territory. One facility at Gadigarh, with an approved cost of Rs 1 crore, is yet to begin construction, while another hospital in Kashmir, sanctioned at Rs 125 lakh, is currently under construction.

The Centre further clarified that financial assistance for establishing 50-bed, 30-bed, and 10-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals is provided to states and Union Territories under the National AYUSH Mission based on their State Annual Action Plans. To receive support, states are required to submit detailed project reports, land-related documents, and commitments regarding the availability of the required human resources.

The Ministry also stated that the selection of locations for Integrated AYUSH Hospitals is decided by the respective state governments according to local healthcare needs and proposals submitted to the Centre. It added that there is currently no separate national policy prescribing location selection based on existing AYUSH infrastructure, research capacity, or regional balance, with funding remaining demand-driven under the National AYUSH Mission.
