Motihari AYUSH doctors announce one-day strike over clinic raids

Motihari: In Motihari, the AYUSH Doctors' Association has announced a one-day strike in protest against the ongoing raids on private clinics run by AYUSH practitioners. The doctors have expressed discontent, alleging that such actions are leading to unnecessary harassment and are disrupting healthcare services for the public.

A delegation of the association met District Magistrate Saurabh Jorwal and submitted a detailed memorandum outlining their concerns and demands, reports Dainik Bhaskar. During the meeting, they urged the administration to adopt a more balanced, transparent, and lawful approach while carrying out inspections and enforcement drives. They emphasized that while regulatory checks are necessary, they should not translate into undue harassment for practitioners who are operating within the legal framework.

The association stated that a large number of AYUSH doctors in the district are not employed in government hospitals and rely entirely on private practice for their livelihood. However, frequent raids, inspections, and reported instances of detention have disrupted their work and created an atmosphere of anxiety. They further claimed that such repeated actions amount to harassment and negatively impact not only the practitioners but also patients who depend on these clinics for accessible and affordable healthcare services.

Association president Dr. Abdul Qadir stated that the organization is not opposed to action against those violating rules. He clarified that doctors employed in government hospitals who are simultaneously running private clinics should face strict action as per existing regulations. However, he stressed that independent practitioners must not be subjected to harassment without proper verification of their qualifications, licenses, and other relevant documents.

The delegation included several doctors, such as Dr. Deepak, Dr. Ranjan Kumar, Dr. Praveen Kumar, and Dr. Mantosh Sahni from Turkaulia block, along with many other AYUSH practitioners from across the district. They collectively demanded fairness, accountability, and an immediate end to what they described as arbitrary and excessive harassment.

The association has warned that if their demands are not addressed in a timely and positive manner, they will intensify their protest in the coming days. The one-day strike is expected to disrupt healthcare services in Motihari, particularly affecting patients who rely on Ayush systems of medicine for treatment, preventive care, and overall wellness.
