Fake promise of Jobs at Vellore Medical College: Conman arrested for duping 85 people
Vellore: A 45-year old conman has been arrested recently by the district crime branch for cheating and duping a sum of Rs 62 lakhs from 85 people with a fake promise of providing jobs at the a private Medical College in Vellore
The accused man had been identified as Y John Kennedy, a resident of Royal Nagar, near Old Kappa . He opened an office under the banner of 'Aashirvad Promoters', where he bluffed around 85 people and cheated sum of around Rs 62 lakhs. He charged money ranging from Rs 50 thousand to Rs 1 lakh with a commitment of providing jobs at the newly constructed Christian Medical College campus

The police official informed TOI that the matter came into consideration after a complaint filed by one of the victims of the accused. The victim informed police that he gave Rs 1 lakh to the conman to secure jobs for him and his wife. he, later on, realised that he was cheated by the accused. He immediately filed a complaint in SP Office at Vellore.
After receiving the complaint, the police department got alert and the Vellore SP Pravesh Kumar constructed a special team and launched a man hunt to catch the Kennedy. The team was headed by DSP (In-charge) of district crime branch, Jayasubramanaian to nab him. The team reached out to his location by tracing the mobile signals of the accused.
The man was accused under section 294 B, section 420 and section 506 (1) of IPC. He was remanded at Vellore Central Prison.
