New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing NEET and NEET PG counselling, some unscrupulous elements are issuing and circulating fabricated information in the name of the National Medical Commission (NMC). Concerned with the same hindering the interests of the students and medical institutions, the NMC has now decided to issue its Letters of Permission (LoP) and Continuation of Recognition (CoR), as well as the appeal orders with the digital signatures of the Member/ President of the concerned Board.
Last week, taking serious cognizance of forged letters of permission and renewal (LoPs and LoRs) being issued to various medical colleges across the country, the apex medical commission put out a stern direction for medical education bodies in all states and UTs to follow.
As per the recent NMC directive, the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) in all states and UTs must fill the MBBS, PG medical and Super Speciality (SS) seats as per the information available on the NMC website only. In addition, the NMC also advised the concerned stakeholders, medical institutions as well as the general public, to not take any action based on the information from any other source except the NMC website.
Till now, the NMC has released two clarifications on such fake permission and renewal letters being issued on behalf of the Member/President of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the NMC to - GSL Medical College, Rajahmundry, Maharajah lnstitute of Medical Sciences, Vizianagaram, Santhiram Medical College, Nandyal, Meenakshi Medical College, Kanchipuram, and Santhiram Medical College, Kurnool.
Once again, alerting the authorities against such spoofed information, the commission pointed out in its recently issued notification, ‘Instances have come to the notice of the National Medical Commission where fake Letter of Permission (LoP) and Continuation of Recognition (CoR) have been issued to the Medical Colleges in the name of President/ Member of the Boards.”
Hence, in an attempt to curb forgery, now all LoPs, CoRs and appeal orders issued by the NMC will contain digital signatures of the respective boards as a mark of authority.
“Therefore, in order to overcome such a situation, it has been decided that the LoPs/CoRs/Appeal orders will henceforth be issued under the Digital Signature of the Member/ President of the concerned Board.”
Accordingly, directing the medical colleges to only treat such LoPs/ CoRs/Appeal orders with the Digital Signature of the concerned Member/ President of the board as genuine, the NMC has further warned against the acknowledgement of these letters in any other form.
“All the Medical Colleges are hereby informed that henceforth only LoPs/ CoRs/Appeal orders issued by the concerned Board under the Digital Signature of the concerned Member/ President should only be treated as genuine."
"The Dean/Principal will be solely responsible for taking cognizance of letter(s) in any other form.”
