Where to Send the Essentiality Certificate? NMC issues notice, reiterates deadline
New Delhi: Through a recent public notice, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has notified about the email address for submitting the Essentiality Certificate (in revised Form-2).
NMC has informed that the stakeholders who have applied through the online portal for the next academic year, can submit the document in the modified format through e-mail at ug.marb@nmc.org.in. For this purpose, NMC has set the deadline till October 13, 2023.
"In continuation to MARB’s public notice of even number dated 15.09.2023, all the stakeholders, who have applied through online portal for the AY 2024-25, can submit the Essentiality Certificate(in revised Form-2) through e-mail at ug.marb@nmc.org.in latest by 13 th October, 2023," mentioned the NMC notice dated 20.09.2023.
Essentiality Certificate is one of the mandatory documents required to be submitted to National Medical Commission along with the application for the Establishment of a new Medical College with an intake of 50/100/150 MBBS seats.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that by issuing a notice on 15.09.2023, NMC introduced modifications in the format of the Essentiality Certificate to make it in consonance with the NMC Minimum Standard Requirements for Establishment of New Medical College/Increase of seats in MBBS Course Guidelines, 2023.
The concerned "Guidelines for Under Graduate Courses under Establishment of New Medical Institutions, Starting of New Medical Courses, Increase of Seats for Existing Courses & Assessment and Rating Regulations, 2023," were notified by NMC on August 16, 2023, and the Apex Medical Education earlier announced that these guidelines would be effective from the Academic Year 2024-2025 onwards.
Now, NMC has modified the format for Form-2 (Essentiality Certificate) making it in consonance with the NMC MSR Guidelines. Along with the notice dated 15.09.2023, NMC also enclosed the Standard Format (Form-2) of the Essentiality Certificate applicable for the Academic Year 2024-2025 onwards.
Although NMC extended the date for submission of the requisite Essentiality Certificate till October 13, 2023, the Commission also clarified that "... this facility to extend the last date is restricted to submission of the requisite Essentiality Certificate only and no application or the requisite documents thereof (except the Essentiality Certificate) shall be accepted beyond the already notified time period for this purpose."
