Dirty Water: Apollo Hospitals fined Rs 2 lakh
During the inspection civic officials noticed that the water waste was being released from the premises of hospitals causing inconvenience to public and ambulance service.
Hyderabad: Apollo Hospitals has been fined Rs 2 lakh by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) recently for allegedly releasing water waste out onto the road thereby causing damage to it.
The violation came to light after an inspection was conducted in Jubilee Hills, Lotus pond, Film Nagar and Khairatabad by GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore and Zonal Commissioner Musharaf Ali in areas along with officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB).
During the inspection civic officials noticed that the water waste was being released from the premises of hospitals causing inconvenience to public and ambulance service.

Commissioner of the civic body M Dana Kishore, who inspected some areas, identified the problem caused by the private hospital and imposed the fine, said a press release from the Municipal Corporation.
The Municipal body issued a notice to the Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals which stated that "The GHMC Commissioner noticed that water is being let out from Apollo Hospital Main Gate (Emergency Entrance) from where it is going to the BT road and causing damage to the entire stretch. In this regard, the Commissioner has instructed that a penalty of Rs 2,00,000 be imposed on the hospital's management for causing inconvenience to the public and ambulances," reports The News Minute.
However, the Apollo hospitals management committee denied the charges informing that the hospitals' compounds have proper had proper sewage treatment plants, reports TOI.

Meanwhile, the civic body has asked staffers of the Directorate of Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management to keep an eye on lakes and other water bodies in the city and penalise offenders throwing debris in such water bodies, adds TOI.
