Hyderabad Doctor secures top rank in AIIMS DM entrance test
Hyderabad: A doctor from the city has secured the top rank in the entrance examination of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) DM (Doctorate in Medicine) Gastroenterology super speciality.
The Doctor - Dr Yegurla Jatin, a native of Karimnagar, lived in Hyderabad. Dr Jatin completed his MBBS degree from Osmania Medical College. He, then, completed his MD internal medicine from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI), Chandigarh (2015-18). He simultaneously prepared for the AIIMS entrance exam. He spent around 16 hours a day attending classes and treating patients. He is presently on a two-month break before he joins the three-year DM course that starts from July, 2019.
It was estimated that over 700 doctors from all over the country appeared in the entrance test for four seats to pursue DM course at AIIMS.

Dr Jatin aims to develop his expertise advanced endoscopic procedures like ERCP (Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. He plans to make advanced gastroenterology services affordable and accessible to all in the state, especial financially weaker section of the society.
Speaking to the TOI, he said "There are lot of techniques and principles that can be applied to bring down the cost. These as well as a unique healthcare model was pioneered by Dr Devishetty, which I want to bring to our state. The model involves charging a good amount from well to do people, which is then redistributed to poor patients. As problems related to gastroenterology have become very common, it is imperative to bring in such healthcare models."
Dr Jatin aspired to pursue medicine after being inspired by his mother, who is also a doctor.
He told the Hindu, "The overwhelming response that she received from people and the way they used to express their gratitude for her voluntary work inspired me."
