Hyderabad: Female House Surgeon of Gandhi Hospital assaulted with a helmet by Patient's kin
Hyderabad: In yet another incident of violence against doctors, a 22-year-old female house surgeon at the well known Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad was brutally assaulted by a patient's kin with a helmet following the death of the patient. A complaint has been lodged against the accused in Chilkalguda police station.
According to recent media reports, the patient was brought to the casualty department of the hospital at 12.30 pm with 90 per cent burns injuries where doctors examined her. However, the doctors could not stabilise the patient and she succumbed to her injuries soon after.
After relatives of the patient got to know about their patient's death, they came out of the casualty ward, picked a helmet and started repeatedly beating the house surgeon on her back and hurled abuses.
The surgeon is said to be in stable condition as of now.
A complaint has been lodged with the Chilkalguda police station in Hyderabad against the relatives of the deceased patient under IPC sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), reports TNM
Gandhi Hospital superintendent, Dr. P Shravan Kumar confirmed to TOI, "The victim was brought to the hospital with 90% burns. She succumbed to burns while undergoing treatment. After the death, a woman's family member of the victim attacked a doctor with a helmet. A complaint was lodged with Chilakalguda police and a case was registered against the accused,"
The police are investigating the case and yet to make any arrests.
Medical Dialogues had recently reported that a female medico at Niloufer Hospital was attacked for removing an attendant's handbag from the bed while trying to revive an 11-year-old patient.
The 25-year-old junior doctor was simply accommodating the 11-year-old patient who came in with active seizures at about midnight and the emergency team stabilised the child and shifted her to one of the beds. During the shifting process, on the bed and kept it aside to accommodate the child on the bed.

All of a sudden, the attendant got angry and started abusing the doctor also twisted her hand.
