The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC), Ludhiana, has asked Khanna-based Jain Multispeciality Hospital to pay Rs 85,000 to a patient for overcharging. The court concluded that the Rs 35,000 extra charge was unjustified and ordered refund, additionally awarding Rs 50000 for the inconvenience caused to the patient.
The history of the case goes back to 2020 when the 61-year-old complainant, who hails from Mandi Gobindgarh, was admitted to the treating hospital for the treatment of uncontrolled blood sugar, pneumonitis and sepsis.
In a tragic incident, a 31-year-old woman doctor pursuing a Doctorate in Medicine (DM) in Neurology at government-run Gajra Raja Medical College (GRMC) in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling in her hostel room.
The reason behind the medico- Dr Rekha Raghuvanshi's suicide is unknown as of now; the police have not found any evidence to explain the cause of her death. No suicide note was recovered from the scene. Dr Raghuvanshi was in the second year of her DM degree.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has extended the date for online filling of information relating to admission made in Medical Colleges/Postgraduate Institutes through the National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 for the Academic Year 2024-25.
As per the notice issued in this regard, the Medical Colleges/Institutions were earlier requested to submit requisite information related to admissions made through NEET PG-2024 in the NMC’s admission monitoring portal by 31 March 2025. However, now the board has decided with the approval of competent authority to extend the timeline for submission of admission details to 07 April 2025 considering the technical difficulties faced by some of the Colleges/Institutions in NMC's portal.

The Delhi Medical Council (DMC) is dealing with administrative chaos as due to the absence of its Registrar, the process of doctors' registration and commencement of MBBS internship are getting delayed.
Resultantly, a significant number of doctors are unable to complete the required procedures to start or continue their careers, The New Indian Express has reported.
