31-year-old DM Neurology medico found dead in hostel

Suicide
Gwalior: In a tragic incident, a 31-year-old woman doctor pursuing a Doctorate in Medicine (DM) in Neurology at government-run Gajra Raja Medical College (GRMC) in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling in her hostel room.
The reason behind the medico- Dr Rekha Raghuvanshi's suicide is unknown as of now; the police have not found any evidence to explain the cause of her death. No suicide note was recovered from the scene. Dr Raghuvanshi was in the second year of her DM degree.
While the police have strongly suspected the case as a suicide, the deceased's family suspects foul play. Her father alleged that she was murdered, alleging that she was happy and had shown no signs of distress.

It has been reported that the doctor was engaged to a man, and their wedding was planned for early next year. Her father mentioned that the marriage was arranged with her consent and that she was happy about it. He also shared that a girl who lived near her daughter's room had gone missing, reports TOI.
To determine the exact cause behind her death, a panel of doctors has been constituted, which will conduct a postmortem examination. Meanwhile, the Kampu police station has launched an investigation and is questioning her classmates and nearby hostel residents.
As per Bhaskar news report, the incident occurred at the Jamuna Hostel of Gajra Raja Medical College, where the doctor resided. According to fellow hostel mates, she had dinner and studied before going to sleep. Around midnight, a classmate who entered her room discovered her hanging from the railing. She immediately informed the hostel warden, following which the authorities were alerted.
On receiving the information, the hostel administration, along with the Dean of the Medical College, Dr. RKS Dhakad, rushed to the scene. The police and forensic team conducted a preliminary investigation, and the body was subsequently shifted to the mortuary for further examination.
"We were notified by the facility late on Saturday night that a woman doctor had committed suicide in the hostel. The police team found her body hanging in the room," an official told PTI.
He said the doctor hailed from the Ashoknagar district, and her family was immediately informed. The body was sent for post-mortem, Pathak said, adding that the police have taken her mobile phone for the probe.
Talking to reporters, the deceased woman's brother said, "We spoke over the phone two days ago, but she did not mention any problems. She even worked on Saturday but took the extreme step at night." He said the doctor was in the second year of her DM degree.
SP Dharamveer Yadav told TOI that the motive behind the suicide seems to be personal. "We are looking into the case from various angles", said the officer.
