The Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) has decided to slap show-cause notices on at least 24 private medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh for failing to meet the faculty requirement and proper infrastructure.
DMET decided to take action against the colleges after conducting inspections in the medical institutes. During the inspection, it was revealed that there were significant deficiencies, including a shortage of qualified faculties and inadequate infrastructure.
Over the failure to submit "anti-ragging declaration" lists from their students and their guardians, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has slapped a show-cause notice on the city's premier Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education & Research, popularly referred to as the SSKM. Medical College & Hospital.
According to the IANS report, SSKM Medical College is not the only medical institute in the country which has been slapped with a show-cause notice by the UGC in the matter recently. Altogether 18 medical institutes have been slapped with similar notices by the commission, adds IANS in its report.

In a significant move, the Karnataka Health Department on Friday issued a directive to implement the Supreme Court's directive, enabling terminally ill patients to die with dignity.
State Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao announced that the department has issued “a historic order” to implement the Supreme Court’s 2023 directive.
A tragic incident occurred at Ummedabad Ayurveda Hospital in Bishangarh when a devastating fire claimed the life of a doctor living on the hospital campus. The doctor was reportedly burnt alive in the fire that broke out in his residence.
According to the police investigation, the doctor who had been suffering from knee and body pain, may have been unable to escape quickly when the fire broke out. Due to his limited movement, he may have been trapped in the room as the fire spread rapidly.
