Breaking News: Right to Health Bill passed in Rajasthan Assembly
Despite the ongoing protest from the entire medical fraternity in the State, the highly debated "Right to Health Bill" got passed in the State Assembly after the Health Minister of the State explained the features of the Bill.
While on the other hand, the private hospital doctors, resident doctors from medical colleges were protesting against the bill at the Statue Circle near the Assembly, the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly passed the Bill by voice vote.

NMC directs medical college, hospitals providing cancer treatment to register with ICMR National Cancer Registry
With an aim for better research and development of cancer diagnosis and treatment, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently requested all the Medical Colleges/ Institutions (Private and Government) providing cancer diagnosis and treatment to register themselves with the National Cancer Registry of ICMR.
Writing to the Deans and HoDs of Pathology Department of all the medical colleges (government and private) in this regard, K. Srinidhi, Under Secretary of NMC mentioned in a recent letter dated March 20, 2023, "In order to meet the need for research and development for diagnosis, treatment, and effectively monitoring for control of cancer, all Medical Colleges/ Institutions (Private and Government) providing cancer diagnosis and treatment are advised to register themselves with the National Cancer Registry of ICMR."

Deadly fungal infection spreading at an alarming rate, CDC says
Candida auris (C. auris), an emerging fungus considered an urgent antimicrobial resistance (AR) threat, spread at an alarming rate in U.S. healthcare facilities in 2020-2021, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published in the Annals of Internal Medicine. Equally concerning was a tripling in 2021 of the number of cases that were resistant to echinocandins, the antifungal medicine most recommended for treatment of C. auris infections.
In general, C. auris is not a threat to healthy people. People who are very sick, have invasive medical devices, or have long or frequent stays in healthcare facilities are at increased risk for acquiring C. auris. CDC has deemed C. auris as an urgent AR threat, because it is often resistant to multiple antifungal drugs, spreads easily in healthcare facilities, and can cause severe infections with high death rates.

Shortage of Doctors: Punjab to launch 'Earn While You Learn' programme for MBBS Graduates
With an aim to address the shortage of doctors in government hospitals, the Punjab government plans to launch a new programme called 'Earn while you learn,' which would recruit newly passed out MBBS students to the healthcare institutions of the state with a good salary.
The Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr Balbir Singh, on 18th March announced that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government would soon start a programme ‘Earn While You Learn’ in which MBBS pass-out students would be deputed into healthcare institutions with attractive salaries.
