NMC to do away with positions of Tutor, Demonstrator, Registrar, bring them all under Senior Resident nomenclature

Aiming at reducing the confusion regarding different designations of residents doctors including 'Tutor', 'Registrar' etc. the National Medical Commission (NMC) has planned to do away with such terms and bring all of them under a common nomenclature.

"The existing posts of Tutors/Demonstrators/Registrars in all the Departments shall be re designated as Senior Residents," NMC, the apex medical body has clarified in the draft Teachers Eligibility Qualifications Regulations 2021 (TEQ).

Fix 'non-exploitative' MBBS Fee structure for Kerala Private Medical Colleges within 4 weeks: SC to Fee Regulatory Committee.

Granting the Fee Regulatory Committee with an extension of four weeks, the Supreme Court directed it to fix "non-exploitative and reasonable" fee for MBBS course at the private medical colleges in Kerala after due consultation with the college managements.

Such an observation came from the Apex Court bench comprising of Justices LN Rao and BR Gavai as it took note of the fact that due to COVID and non-cooperation, the earlier Fenruary 25 order of the Apex Court couldn't be complied with, where the top court had directed the Committee to fix the fees from 2017-18 onwards.

Commercial gain or making profit is neither a public nuisance nor a wrongful act, remarked Delhi High Court on Monday while hearing a suit filed by several doctors' associations against Yoga guru Ramdev for allegedly spreading misinformation against allopathy and in turn promoting his immunity booster medicine Coronil amid Covid-19 pandemic.

Three Resident Doctors' Association of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences at Rishikesh, Patna and Bhubaneshwar as well as Association of Resident Doctors, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh; Union of Resident Doctors of Punjab (URDP); Resident Doctors' Association, Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College, Meerut, and Telangana Junior Doctors' Association, Hyderabad had moved the high court earlier this year.

Depressed after alleged ragging, sexual harassment, 3rd-year MBBS student tries to kill self

Fed up and depressed with alleged ragging and sexual harassment by two seniors, a third-year MBBS student of of Maharaja Agarsain Medical College attempted suicide by jumping from the window of the first floor of Jindal Private Hospital in Hisar on Saturday.

As per various media accounts, the medico suffered injuries and was admitted to the hospital after the incident. She was discharged from the hospital on Monday following which she lodged a complaint with the police.
