Answering the various doubts of the members of the public on the new Omicron Variant, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on the new variant of COVID19, classified as Omicron (B.1.1.529) by the WHO on 26th November 2021.

The FAQs range from the understanding on the omicron variant its diagnosis, the efficacy of the vaccine against it and also whether there will be third wave in India. Check out these answers.

124 Medical Colleges accorded NMC recognition in 3 years, 66 in 2021: Health Minister in Parliament

A total of 124 medical colleges across the country have bagged recognition from the National Medical Commission (NMC) during the last years, with 66 institutes being recognised this year to date.

Updated jab in response to Omicron variant could be ready in 100 days: Pfizer CEO

Pfizer is working on an updated jab in response to the Omicron variant that could be ready in 100 days, according to the head of American multinational pharmaceutical giant, who said that people may need to have annual Covid-19 vaccinations for many years to come.

Pfizer's chief executive Dr Albert Bourla told the BBC that he is of the view that annual vaccinations would be needed to maintain a "very high level of protection" against the deadly disease that has claimed over five million lives across the world.

HC quashes transfer of RajaRajeswari Medical College Affiliation to Dr MGR University

Directing the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Central Government to follow the mandate of the UGC (Institutions Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2016, a division bench of the Karnataka High Court has recently upheld a decision of the single judge bench which had quashed the Centre's decision of transferring the city-based Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH) to the Chennai-based Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute.

The bench has given two months of time to UGC and the Central Government to arrive at a decision regarding the matter after duly considering the objections raised by the State Government.
