New Delhi: Medical Director of DDU Hospital transferred
New Delhi: Just a few days after the reports of a JOB scam surfaced from the Delhi Government's Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital, the Medical Director of the hospital has been relieved of her duties. Dr Savita Babbar, the medical director of the hospital in question, also held the post of Regional Director of health services of West region, another post from which she has been asked to step down.
On 25th May, 2016, Medical Dialogues had reported about an alleged job scan brewing at DDU hospital, whereby vacant posts of senior as well as junior residents were allegedly being sold to the highest bidder. Under this advertisements of various posts were not being made, and allegedly the interview process was being held in secrecy and further being manipulated to benefit certain " Buyers of the post." An inquiry into the same has been ordered by the officials.
While many in the health department have said that the transfer is consequent to the scam, Dr Babbar while speaking to Mail Today had a different story to tell.
"It is a decision which has been taken by the higher authorities. I am not a loser. I am hero in my own way as I took some serious actions against doctors who were involved in private practices along with the government job. This might be a repercussion of the same. I have taken some important decisions to improve the overall functioning of the hospital. I am happy with what I have done and what I will be doing in the future," Dr Babbar told Mail today.
As per the transfer order, Dr Babbar will now be posted to the Anesthesia Department of DDU Hospital. As a policy, transfer orders do not specify the reason for which the transfer has been made.
Dr Punita Mahajan, Medical Director Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital and Regional Director Health Services ( North) will pick up her additional charge for a temporary period.
