14 NEET Candidates Left out in JIPMER MBBS Admission List
Puducherry: Seeking relief for 14 NEET qualified students, who have been denied enrolment for MBBS admission in JIPMER, the Director of Health and Family Welfare and Nodal Officer NEET, Dr. G Sriramulu has recently written to Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) and Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), DGHS.
The Government has requested the institute to permit all students belonging to the Puducherry domicile whose names have not been provided by the Government, after verifying their residential proof, reports TOI.
Further, writing to the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), operative under DGHS, the Government has also requested them to enable 'Puducherry Domicile' in the MCC portal and provide relief to the left out candidates, adds Edex Live.

As per the latest media report by the Times of India, the Puducherry Government had earlier sent the NEET UG 2021 results of the students belonging to Puducherry Domicile after the dean of the institute had sought the same. However, soon afterwards, the Health Department started receiving complaints from Puducherry domicile students, who claimed that they couldn't enroll for JIPMER MBBS registration as the Institute allowed only 5,025 students who had entered the name of 'Applicant State' as Puducherry.
After verifying, the Government found out that the students who were not included in the list had chosen Tami Nadu or Andhra Pradesh while filling out the field 'State/UT from where 12th/Equivalent Passed/Appearing' on the NEET application.
In a letter directed to Dean (academics) of the Institute, the Director (health and family welfare services) and nodal officer NEET, G Sriramulu stated, "...you are requested to permit all the approaching students of Puducherry Domicile whose names are not in the list to enrol in the Jipmer MBBS counselling, subject to verification of the residential proof issued by the competent authority, Puducherry government."
Further writing to MCC, operative under DGHS, Sriramulu made a request to enable 'Puducherry Domicile' in the MCC portal so that the left out students can get relief and enroll for JIPMER MBBS admission.
Although the institute has been requested for permitting all the students of the Puducherry Domicile for MBBS counselling, the institute has reportedly informed that they will send the list containing 5,025 candidates only to MCC whose applicant state is Puducherry, adds Edex Live.
The daily further adds that Sriramulu has also requested the MCC to incorporate a filed for 'Native State' in the NEET application so that, such issues can be avoided in future.
Speaking to the daily, V Balasubramanian, the President of Puducherry students and parents welfare association, informed that although these students were born and brought up in Puducherry and pursued their education until Class X there, they shifted to neighboring states for further school education with the hopes of scoring better in NEET.
Although these students have been denied enrolment in JIPMER, they have been enrolled under CENTAC for getting admitted to medical colleges in UT.
