245 additional PG medical seats granted by NMC after appeals, Check Details

New Delhi: After the recent addition of 171 postgraduate seats, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has now approved a total of 245 additional PG medical seats, based on the decision of the Appeal Committee.
Intimating about the same, NMC MARB in a public notice dated 06.01.2025 mentioned, "In reference to the appeals preferred by Medical Colleges under Section 28(5) of the NMC Act, 2019 against the decisions of the MARB for the seats granted during Academic Year 2025–26, the matter was examined by the First Appeal Committee. The list of seats granted by the First Appeal Committee is attached herewith for the information of all stakeholders."
"The LOPs for these sanctioned PG seats for AY 2025-26 will be issued shortly. The counselling authorities need not wait for the LOPs from institutions to include them in the counselling process. This list uploaded on the website shall be considered as valid document for counselling process," it added.
Referring to the MARB Notice, the NMC Secretary wrote to the heads of all medical colleges and notified them about the additional seats granted by the 1st Appeal Committee for Postgraduate courses in Medical Colleges/Institutions for the Academic Year (AY) 2025-26.
"Kind reference is invited to the Medical Assessment& Rating Board (MARB) Public Notice of even number dated 06-01-2026 (copy enclosed) on the subject mentioned above being self-explanatory inter-alia duly enclosing the list of additional seats granted during Academic Year 2025–26 by the First Appeal Committee which shall be considered as valid document for counseling process. Accordingly, all concerned are requested to take note of the same for necessary action on their part," NMC mentioned in the communication dated 07.01.2025.
As per the details provided by the National Medical Commission (NMC), after the decision of the Appeal Committee, a total of 2 seats have been added in MD Bio-chemistry, 2 seats in MD Family Medicine, 62 seats in MD General Medicine, 22 seats in MD Pediatrics, 3 seats in MD Radiation Oncology, 4 seats in MD Anaesthesiology, 2 seats in MD Community Medicine, 30 seats have been added in MD- Dermatology Venereology & Leprosy, 3 seats in MD Emergency Medicine, 2 seats in MD Microbiology, 9 seats in MD Orthopaedics, 5 seats in MD Psychiatry, 4 seats in MD Respiratory Medicine, 39 seats in MD Radio-diagnosis, 30 seats in MS General Surgery, 6 seats in MS Ophthalmology, 9 seats in MS Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), and 11 seats have been added in MS Obstetrics & Gynaecology. These additional seats have been added in a total of 43 medical colleges.
