Bodies of 3 MBBS students of GMC Badaun recovered from Ganga River
Badaun: The bodies of three medical students who drowned in the Ganga river in Ujhani area of Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh were recovered by the SDRF team on Sunday, police sources said here.
Police sources said on Sunday that five MBBS students of Government Medical College Badaun drowned in deep water while taking bath at Kachhla Ganga Ghat on Saturday afternoon. "While two students were rescued safely with the help of local people and divers, a rescue operation was carried out throughout the day on Saturday to find the other three," they said.

It may be noted that five MBBS students of Government Medical College Badaun of 2019 batch Jai Maurya (26), a resident of Jaunpur, Pawan Yadav (24), a resident of Ballia, Naveen Sengar (22), a resident of Hathras, Ankush Gehlot (23), a resident of Bharatpur in Rajasthan and Pramod Yadav (22), a resident of Gorakhpur, drowned while taking bath in Ganga river on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri on Saturday.
While Ankush Gehlot and Pramod Yadav were pulled out safely with the help of local divers, Jai Maurya, Pawan Yadav and Naveen Sengar went missing.
Police sources said that the search operation was carried out by the SDRF team in the night, but it was called off as it was dark. "When SDRF resumed its search operation this morning, Jai Maurya's body was found first at around 12 noon, followed by Pawan and Naveen bodies 500 meters away from the Ghat.
District Magistrate Manoj Kumar said that the SDRF team carried out the rescue operation till late last night. "The rescue operation which lasted for about 8 hours and the bodies of the three MBBS students were recovered about 500 meters away from the spot," he said.
The relatives of the three dead students have reached Badaun. "Preparations are being made for the post-mortem process, after which the bodies of the three students will be handed over to their relatives," sources said.
