Final year MDS student dies in road accident, 2 students injured

Punjab: In a tragic incident, a student of a government dental college was run over by a speeding vehicle recently, and two fellow doctors accompanying her were seriously injured.
The deceased has been identified as a 26-year-old final-year student of Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) and a resident of Patran, Punjab.
The police were informed immediately after the incident. According to the investigating officer, the incident occurred at around 12:30 AM when she and her two companions were returning to their paying guest accommodation in Officer Colony after taking a practical exam. Their scooter was allegedly hit from behind by a speeding SUV, resulting in fatal head injuries to the MDS student.
Meanwhile, two injured final-year MDS students were taken to the hospital and are currently undergoing treatment. Both sustained multiple fractures. According to The Tribune media report, the police have registered a case against unknown persons in the vehicle and have launched an investigation.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported a similar case where two third-year MBBS students of SN Medical College lost their lives in a road accident near the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) on National Highway 19 connecting Agra and Delhi.
One MBBS student was from Agra, while the other was from Hardoi, both in Uttar Pradesh. The students have been identified as 22-year-old MBBS students from SN Medical College. The incident occurred on Sunday evening when they were riding a motorcycle when an unknown vehicle struck them.
Following the incident, students from the medical college hostel arrived at the scene and, with the help of the police, took the two injured to the emergency ward of SN Medical College, where they died. Their bodies were later sent for postmortem examination.
