After fake certificate row, JCECEB tells NEET counselling candidates to update documents for MBBS admissions

Ranchi: Nearly eight months after the fake-certificate admission controversy at four state-run medical colleges, the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has advised NEET UG candidates to ensure that all required documents are up to date before the state MBBS counselling begins.
NEET UG 2026 re-examination was conducted on June 21, 2026 and the National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon release the results.
After the publication of the NEET-UG results, JCECEB will prepare the state merit list for admissions to MBBS, BDS, and homoeopathy colleges in Jharkhand. Before the online counselling process starts, the Board has advised all eligible candidates to obtain updated caste, income, and other required certificates to avoid any irregularities during verification.
The Board has clearly stated that caste and income certificates must be issued only by competent authorities and should not be signed by officials below the rank of a Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO).

Candidates applying under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category have also been asked to update their disability certificates. According to the advisory, only disability certificates issued by RIMS Ranchi, AIIMS Deoghar, or the Civil Surgeon will be accepted.
Apart from certificates, JCECEB has instructed candidates to verify that their Aadhaar card is valid and updated. Details such as name, date of birth, gender, photograph, address, and biometric information should match their admission records to avoid complications during counselling.
The Board asked candidates to complete these updates before applying for the state merit list so that discrepancies, complaints, or cancellation of admission can be avoided later.
The advisory comes in the backdrop of last year's fake certificate case, in which several candidates were found to have secured MBBS seats using forged documents.
Medical Dialogues had reported about the issue last year that an investigation was launched into admission certificates after irregularities were found in the documents of 10 MBBS students of four state-run medical colleges.
Of these 10 suspected MBBS students, five were from Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH), Hazaribagh, three from Phool Jhano Medical College and Hospital (PJMCH), Dumka, and one each from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi and Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH), Dhanbad.
