Assam MBBS, BDS admissions 2026: DME to close registration window today, choice filling to begin from August 16

The counselling is being conducted for the cadndidates who have qualified in the NEET UG exam for the academic year 2026 conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) and are eligible as per “The Medical Colleges and Dental Colleges of Assam (Regulation of Admission into 1st year MBBS/BDS courses) Rules 2017 (Amended upto 2026) for admission into 1st year MBBS/BDS courses in the Government Medical and Dental Colleges of Assam for the session 2026 under State quota seats, that the 1st round of counselling for selection of candidates for admission into 1st year MBBS/BDS courses (Session 2026) under state quota seats will be conducted online by this Directorate.

Therefore, according to the schedule, online registration for the counselling will end today, i.e., 15 August 2026 at 11:55 PM. Following this, the online filling of choices will be available from 16 to 18 August 2026 at 10 PM.

Locking of choices will be available on 18 August 2026 from 5 PM to 11.55 PM, after which the choices will be locked automatically if not locked earlier by the candidate. Processing of seat allotment will be from 19 to 21 August 2026. After processing the data, a list of provisionally selected candidates along with modalities of admission will be displayed on the website of this Directorate on 22/08/2026. Meanwhile, according to the educational notice issued by the DME Assam, all eligible candidates under General, PwD and Reserved category and Special category shall have to register and fill choices in the online counselling.

However, no offline counselling will be held separately for these seats. Candidates belonging to OBC/MOBC of creamy layer must apply under General category.
