From Rs 6.2 lakh to Rs 15.5 lakh: FRA finalises New MBBS fee structure in Maharashtra
MBBS Fees at Private Medical Colleges in Tamil Nadu
Mumbai: In a major update for medical aspirants, the Maharashtra Fee Regulating Authority (FRA) has revised the MBBS fee structure for private medical colleges across the State.
In its recent meetings, the Fee Regulating Authority (FRA) in Maharashtra fixed the MBBS fees at 11 out of 24 private medical colleges in the State and PG (MD/MS) medical fees for the five institutes.
Among these 11 institutes, the FRA has slashed the fees at two institutes, kept the fee structure unchanged at two colleges, and allowed an MBBS fee hike at the rest of the 7 medical colleges.
Where FRA allowed a Fee Hike:
For instance, the MBBS fees at SMBT Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Nashik was increased from Rs 12,42,000 to Rs 13 lakh. The fee was increased from Rs 9,86,000 to Rs 10,33,000 at Ashwini Rural Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Solapur.
FRA increased the fees at Padmashri Dr Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Medical College, Ahmednagar, from Rs 12,10,000 to Rs 13 lakh, and it allowed a hike in the MBBS fees from Rs 10,59,000 to Rs 11,65,000 at BKL Walawalkar Rural Medical College, Chiplun (Ratnagiri).
At SSPM Medical College, Sindhudurg, the MBBS fee was increased from Rs 7,50,000 to Rs 7,64,000, at Prakash Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Islampur, Sangli, it was increased from Rs 7,63,000 to Rs 8,51,000 and FRA increased the fees at Bharatratna Atalbihari Vajpayee Medical College and Hospital, Pune, from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh.
Fee Structure Remains Unchanged:
As per the data released by the FRA, the MBBS fees at Rajendra Gode Medical College, Amravati, and Parbhani Medical College have not witnessed any change this year.
Reduction in MBBS Fees:
Meanwhile, the Fee Regulating Authority (FRA) in the State has slashed the MBBS fees at two private medical colleges. These two colleges include Vedantaa Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), Palghar, which is the State's most expensive medical college, and NY Tasgaonkar Institute of Medical Science, Karjat.
FRA decided the reduce the MBBS fees at VIMS Palghar by 8.57%. While previously, the fees for the MBBS course at this institute was Rs 17.03 lakh, the FRA has now slashed it to Rs 15.57 lakh.
NY Tasgaonkar Institute of Medical Science, Karjat (Raigad), witnessed an even higher Rs 1.67 lakh drop in its MBBS course fees. The MBBS fees at this institute have been reduced from Rs 7.9 lakh to Rs 6.22 lakh. Therefore, the MBBS fees at this institute have been reduced by the FRA by around 21%.
