KEA to reopen NEET PG round 3 option entry window on February 16 as HC defers seat allotment
Karnataka: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is going to reopen the option entry window for the third round of National Eligibility and Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) counselling for the academic year 2025-26 on February 16.
This comes after the Karnataka High Court directed the authorities to refrain from publishing the seat allotment results till February 17.
Two in-service candidates filed a writ petition. Acting on the petition, the High Court directed the authorities not to make any announcements regarding seat allotment until February 17th. According to the previous schedule, the last date for option entry for Round 3 was February 11th.
According to a TelegraphIndia media news report, the petitioners sought direction to KEA to accept their Form-H submissions dated January 8 and January 20 and allot five D-categorised in-service seats that remained vacant after the second round. Also, the petitioners requested that these seats be allotted to eligible in-service candidates on priority before the start of the third mop-up round.
Hence, on February 12, the Bengaluru Division Bench of Justice Jayant Banerjee and Justice TM Nadaf reserved its judgment, continuing the interim order passed earlier. In its oral observation, the bench stated: “Interim order granted earlier shall be in effect till delivery of judgment, subject to the condition that the respondents are permitted to conduct the option entries and registration of in-service candidates.”
Meanwhile, the matter is scheduled for further hearing on February 17. Following this, the Karnataka NEET PG Round 3 allotment date will only be announced after the court's next order.
The vacant seats cited in the petition include-
1 General Medicine – KVG Medical College, Sullia.
2 Anaesthesia – Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bengaluru.
3 Anaesthesia – Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BRIMS), Bidar.
4 Anaesthesia – GRIMS, Gadag.
5 Dermatology – Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences.
